Department of History and Political Science

The History and Political Science Department prepares students for occupations such as law, teaching, and international work as well as entrance into graduate and professional schools. We believe in teaching our students important academic material from a Christian perspective and help them strive toward vocations that fulfill the great commission of Jesus.

A broad liberal arts undergraduate education expands the students' understanding of their own historical context, increases their knowledge of political issues, and facilitates their adjustment to a rapidly changing social world by preparing them to recognize and appreciate cultural diversity.

The Department of History and Political Science offers majors in Art, History, Humanities, and Political Science. Teacher licensure can be obtained in history with an emphasis in political science or economics for 7th through 12th grade. In the humanities major, students can select emphasis in art, history, or philosophy. Minors include art, history, humanities, and political science.
