Thank you for your interest in becoming a 2020-2021 Peer Mentor for Lee University LEAP.

Completed forms (Application with Answers to Questions, and Reference Forms) should be turned in to the LEAP office located in the Higginbotham Administration Building, Room 306 by Wednesday, March 31, 2021. When you drop off your application, be sure to schedule an appointment with Dr. Angela Waltrip, Community Coordinator & LEAP Coach, for a future 20-minute interview.

Lee University is thrilled and grateful to receive a federal TRIO grant to fund our LEAP mentors. The pay is about $8.00 hourly. We look forward to using students like you to help us build this program.

Sincerely,
Dr. Roy Y. Chan

LEAP is an acronym for Learn- Engage- Achieve- Program. Funded by the U.S. Department of Education, LEAP is a TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) program designed to serve selected undergraduate students who are either low-income, first-generation, and/or have a documented disability.

As a LEAP student, you will have the opportunity to utilize specialized services that are not available to the general student population, including a personalized LEAP career coach, a LEAP peer mentor, and individualized math/writing tutors designed for your academic and career success.

Participation in LEAP is limited since the program is only funded to serve 140 students each year. Interested students must submit an application along with all supporting documents online in order to be considered for the program. Participants are selected through a holistic review process and applicants may be called for an interview. Meeting the eligibility criteria and having an interview does not guarantee acceptance into the program. If you meet the criteria for eligibility but aren't admitted to LEAP due to capacity, you will be placed on our wait list.
