The chamber percussion experience is essential to the percussionist's training and allows students to experience repertoire from contemporary genres to world music and improvisation. The Percussion Ensemble, directed by Dr. Andy Harnsberger, is an integral part of the percussion curriculum and performs a wide variety of music written expressly for percussion. Selections range from chamber works for three to four performers to works utilizing many instruments. The group presents fall and spring concerts annually. Students are also exposed to nationally recognized artists and clinicians from around the country, who specialize in marching percussion, drum set, Afro-Cuban percussion, Brazilian percussion, Arabic percussion, marimba, jazz vibes, African percussion, and symphonic percussion.
