Employee Profile

Dr. Shane Brown, an alum of Lee University (’01) joined the Helen DeVos College of Education in 2012 as part-time instructor in the Teacher Education Program after having spent 11 years teaching 4th grade in Bradley County Schools here in Cleveland. He transitioned to full-time assistant professor in 2017 and then became the Director of Teacher Education, Field Experiences and Certification in 2020. He teaches all levels of educator preparation in the college of education but helps give administrative oversight to all field experiences, teacher education programing and licensure. He has worked extensively helping teacher candidates be successful on the edTPA portfolio during their senior year. His research interests include teacher preparation, best practices in clinical mentorship and leadership skills at a variety of levels.
