Roy Chan, PhD
Assistant Professor of Education
Dr. Roy Y. Chan joined the faculty of Lee University in 2021 and helped launch Lee’s first terminal degree program, Doctor of Education (EdD). He teaches graduate-level courses on leadership theory and practice, comparative and international education, college student development, higher education practicum, and dissertation writing. His research agenda broadly focuses on college retention and completion, higher education policy, online and distance education, and international higher education.
Prior to his academic appointment, Chan served as the Director of LEAP / TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) at Lee, where he led the renewal of a five-year grant of approximately $1.3 million funded by the U.S. Department of Education. He holds a PhD in history, philosophy, and policy in education from Indiana University, a master’s degree in higher education administration from Boston College, an MEd in international higher education from The University of Hong Kong, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Irvine.
