Events, Music, News

The Lee University a cappella group Voices of Lee will present “Home for Christmas,” a concert featuring both secular and sacred songs on Thursday, Dec. 9, at 7:30 p.m. in Pangle Hall.

“Voices of Lee travels nationwide during the semester, representing Cleveland, Tennessee, in over 100 concerts annually,” said founding director Danny Murray. “It’s good to be home this year to offer this concert as a gift to the community.”

2021 marks Voices of Lee’s 27th Anniversary. The 15-member group is characterized by their unique variety of lush vocal harmonies, along with high energy contemporary a cappella arrangements from several genres. Voices of Lee has recorded 15 CD projects and, most recently, their video recordings have exceeded 111 million views online.

They have captivated audiences worldwide, performing at the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris and have been featured performers for Christmas at the White House in Washington D.C. Their convention appearances have taken them from Israel to Ontario and numerous cities in the United States, including many of the nation’s largest churches. The ensemble was propelled into the international spotlight on the debut season of NBC’s Sing-Off, a competition for a cappella groups. Out of thousands of auditions, Voices of Lee was selected as one of eight groups to compete and was featured on four primetime NBC network episodes.

Voices of Lee was voted 2018 “Favorite Collegiate Group,” “Favorite Religious Group,” and “Favorite Video” by the International A Cappella Music Awards’ voting audience. They have been featured performers in China at the Shang Hai International Music Festival, at Carnegie Hall, and featured in “Make the Season Bright” at the Beacon Theater on Broadway.

Admission to the “Home for Christmas” concert is free of charge, but tickets are required due to limited seating. Tickets can be reserved by calling (423) 614-8320 or emailing [email protected].
