Voices of Lee to Present “Home for Christmas”
Lee University’s a cappella ensemble, Voices of Lee, will present “Home for Christmas,” a concert featuring a mix of sacred and secular holiday music, on Wednesday, Dec. 10, at 7 p.m. in Pangle Hall.
“Home for Christmas is one of our favorite concerts each year,” said Danny Murray, director of Voices of Lee. “It’s a chance for our students to share the joy and hope of the season with our community.”
Voices of Lee has been one of the university’s exceptional touring vocal ensembles since its inception in 1994. The ensemble was propelled into the national spotlight during the debut season of NBC’s “The Sing-Off” in 2009. Voices has performed on multiple national networks, in churches and venues worldwide, and at various international festivals, such as the Shanghai International Music Festival in China. The group has also been a featured guest on Dr. David Jeremiah’s “Christmas on Broadway Spectacular” and will appear in TBN’s Christmas special this December.
In 2018, Voices of Lee was awarded “Favorite Collegiate Group,” “Favorite Religious Group,” and “Favorite Video” by the International A Cappella Music Awards.
Murray, a Lee alumnus, has coached collegiate musicians for more than 40 years. He and his wife, Lee Provost Dr. Debbie Murray, have four children and 11 grandchildren, all residing in Cleveland, Tennessee. Now in his 31st year directing Voices of Lee, Murray holds the record for the longest-running directorship of any vocal ensemble in the university’s history.
Admission to “Home for Christmas” is free, but tickets are required due to limited seating.
