Lee University nursing majors Hope Gunn, Nickolas Lard, and Madelyn Pitney have been named recipients of the Bradley Scholars program, an initiative of Bradley Medical Center.

“I am so thankful that Lee University has such outstanding support from our hospital clinical partners,” said Dr. Amy Jo Perry, dean of Lee’s School of Nursing. “This collaboration with Bradley Medical Center is essential to address the current nursing shortage and establish a pipeline of exceptionally trained and supported registered nurses to meet the healthcare needs of our local community.”

Each student will receive $7,500 every semester for a total award of up to $45,000 in exchange for a commitment to work as a nurse at Bradley Medical Center for two to three years after graduation, based on the number of years they will receive the scholarship. During their time at Lee, the Bradley Scholars will complete the majority of their required clinical experience at Bradley Medical and are encouraged to work optional employee hours as nurse technicians.

“I’m grateful I’ve been selected as a Bradley Scholar and am so excited to partner with this organization while I’m in the early, foundational stages of my nursing journey,” said Gunn, a junior nursing major at Lee. “I’m delighted to learn, grow, and challenge myself through this program and believe this will be formative in my development as a nurse, alongside the distinct and remarkable Christian nursing education I have received at Lee.

The program began in the fall of 2024 with five students, Sarah Cate, Emony Kemp, Emma Miles, Noah New, and Emma White. Miles, who graduated in May, now works as a registered nurse at Bradley, and the others will graduate in the spring of 2026.

“Bradley Medical Center is proud to partner with Lee University to support the next generation of nurses through the Bradley Scholars Program,” said Dr. Tammy Seay, vice president and chief nursing officer of Bradley Medical Center. “Through this program, students receive mentorship throughout their academic journey and gain valuable clinical experience. We are excited to invest in these future nurses and look forward to the contributions they will make to our community.”
