The Performing Arts Series to Welcome Mezzo-soprano Sarah Nordin

The Lee University School of Music will host guest artist Sarah Nordin, mezzo soprano, in the second Performing Arts Series concert of the season on Tuesday, Nov. 18 at 7:30 p.m. in Squires Recital Hall.

Nordin, an opera singer, accomplished French horn player, and dancer, has toured Japan with the Metropolitan Opera and toured Europe as a soloist with the American Spiritual Ensemble.

Opera News praised Nordin’s voice for its “clear beauty [that] resounded effortlessly” in her performance as Lola in “Cavalleria Rusticana.”

Nordin has performed as Marcellina in “Le Nozze di Figaro,” Zita in “Gianni Schicchi,” Isabella in “L’Italiana in Algeri,” Meg in “Falstaff,” Dorabella in “Cosi fan tutte,” and the title role in “Carmen.” Further stage experience includes working at the Metropolitan Opera in such productions as Boris Godunov, Nabucco, Don Carlo, Les Troyens, Parsifal, Ottello, and the Zefferelli productions of Turandot and La Boheme.

She has trained at Opera North, Caramoor Opera, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, Orlando Opera, Central City Opera, and Knoxville Opera. She has performed in more than 15 operas and has appeared as an alto soloist with the Ocala Symphony Orchestra, the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, and the First Presbyterian Church of Greenwich. Additionally, she has performed in over 13 different musical theatre productions, including “Wizard of Oz,” “Fiddler on the Roof,” “The King And I,” and “South Pacific.”

Nordin earned her master of music from the University of Tennessee and her bachelor of music from Lee.
