The City Harmonic to Continue Fall U-Church Series

News

The City Harmonic will be the next guest for Lee University’s fall U-Church series on Sunday, Nov. 2, at 7:30 p.m. in the Conn Center.

The award-winning Canadian band uses its gift for rock and Brit-pop music to spread the word of the Gospels. The City Harmonic’s unique blend of popular music and particular reverence is growing ever more beloved.

“If Coldplay sang the Lord’s Prayer or added a worship set to its stadium tour, this is what it would sound like,” says Christianity Today. “The City Harmonic’s lyrics are a cut above some other worship bands following the same trend.”

The band has been earning attention since 2010 when they self-released six of their songs, including the popular “Manifesto.” The City Harmonic was nominated in 2012 for a Gospel Music Association Dove award for “New Artist of the Year,” and in 2013 won a Juno award for “Christian/ Contemporary Gospel Album of the Year.” Also in 2013, the band released their second full length album and most critically acclaimed album to date, “Heart.”

“Both art and worship are participatory acts—not consumptive acts,” says the band’s frontman Elias Dummer. “What is meaningful for people is the experience, that creative moment when art is shared. To us, it’s almost as though these songs just don’t sound right without everybody involved.”

U-Church is a free, non-ticketed event for students, alumni and the community. Seating is first-come, first-serve, and doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Childcare is available for all who attend. Please contact Christie Wyatt at [email protected]for more information.
