Taylor to Speak at Commencement

News

Dr. Carol Taylor, president of Evangel University, will address graduates and guests at Lee University’s spring commencement on Saturday, May 10, at 9:30 a.m. on the lawn of the Science and Math Complex (SMC).

Taylor began her service as President-elect and CEO for Evangel University in July 2013. Prior to that, she served as president of Vanguard University of Southern California from 2009 – 2013.

Taylor has over 30 years of experience in education and higher education including seven years at Biola University as the vice provost for undergraduate education. She has also completed 12 years in research and large-scale assessment administration at the Educational Testing Service in Princeton, N.J.
She has taught and lectured internationally and has served on various boards and national commissions for assessment, accreditation, study abroad programs, women’s leadership development, and women in ministry. She is now leading the consolidation of Evangel University, Central Bible College, and the Assemblies of God Seminary.

Taylor earned her doctorate in multilingual/multicultural education from Florida State University, her master’s degree in cross-cultural communications from the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary, and her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Evangel College.

Graduation exercises will begin with a hooding ceremony for students earning graduate degrees. The hooding service will take place in the Lee University Chapel Friday, May 9, at 4:30 p.m.

After the hooding ceremony, all graduates will march in the commissioning service at 6:30 p.m. on the SMC lawn. At this service, guests and graduates will hear from six class representatives reflecting about their time at Lee, and graduates will receive Bibles commemorating this milestone.

The commissioning and commencement services will not require tickets, unless inclement weather shifts the ceremony indoors, where seating is limited. University officials report this graduation as the largest in Lee history, with more than 450 degrees being conferred.

The hooding, commissioning and commencement will be available for live stream viewing at
