Tailgate Party to Take Place Saturday Prior to Free Concert
In addition to performing a free concert in Lee University’s Conn Center on Saturday, Sept. 26, Canton Junction will host an “Eat and Greet” tailgate event prior to the show. It will begin at 4:30 p.m. in the Conn Center parking lot and provide fans with the opportunity to share a meal, meet the artists, and win prizes.
The concert’s artists, including Canton Junction, Ivan Parker, The Isaacs, and Voices of Lee will all be present for the “fun, fellowship, and food” at the tailgate party. Local Christian station J103 will broadcast live from the event and give away prizes. Food vendors will be onsite for attendees wishing to eat dinner at the party.
Canton Junction is a vocal quartet from Texas whose goal is to spread the word of God through music. Audiences will hear influences that range from timeless hymns to the Eagles, from southern gospel to big band. According to Difference Media, “[The four members] Casey Rivers, Tim Duncan, Matthew Hagee, and Ryan Seaton are four very different individuals who come from varying musical backgrounds and geographic locations, yet the moment they sing together they stand on common ground.”
The Isaacs have won over seven Dove Awards in various categories and have had several Grammy nominations during their career. They are a country and bluegrass gospel group that began singing together 35 years ago. The vocalists are mother Lily Isaacs, and siblings Ben Isaacs, Sonya Isaacs Yeary, and Rebecca Isaacs Bowman. They perform frequently at the Grand Ole Opry, are active members on the Gaither Homecoming Videos and Concert Series, and travel internationally throughout the year
Parker was inducted into the Alabama Music Hall of Fame in 1993. He was lead vocalist of the Dove Award-winning group the Gold City Quartet for many years, and was named Favorite Lead Vocalist by Singing News from 1988–1993, and was named Favorite Male Vocalist from 1989–1995 and 1997. He has recorded such hits as “I Choose,” “It’s True,” and “Midnight Cry,” which held the number one radio spot in Europe following its release.
Celebrating 20 years of touring, the Voices of Lee have captivated audiences worldwide. Directed by Danny Murray, this 15-member group is characterized by their unique variety of lush vocal harmonies. They have toured Europe with concerts at the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris and England’s Ely Cathedral and have been featured performers for Christmas at the White House in Washington D.C. Their convention appearances have taken them from Israel to Ontario and numerous U.S. cities.
