Lee’s Symphony Orchestra will present its spring concert featuring seven works, six soloists and two conductors on Monday, March 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the Conn Center.

The program will include such works as Eric Ewazen’s “Trombone Concerto,” Rossini’s “Una voce poco fa” from his opera “The Barber of Seville,” Mozart’s “Clarinet Concerto” and Rachmaninoff’s “Piano Concerto No. 3,” along with Bach’s “Brandenburg Concerto No. 6.”

The concert will feature student soloists who were winners of the recent Student Concerto Competition: Joseph Archer, trombone; Kaylee Gallagher, mezzo-soprano; Amy Humberd, clarinet; Marcello Jiminez and Guanliang Zong, violists; and Siyao Li, piano.

In addition, Symphony Graduate Assistant Sarah Pearson will conduct Benjamin Britten’s five-movement orchestral suite, “Soirees Musicales.”

Lee Symphony Conductor Robert Bernhardt, who will accompany the soloists, will also conduct Wagner’s powerful overture, “Prelude to Die Meistersinger.”

Bernhardt joined the Lee faculty as an artist-in-residence in 2011 after 19 years as Music Director and Conductor of the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera, where he continues to serve in the role of Music Director Emeritus. He is also the Principal Pops Conductor of the Louisville Orchestra and an active guest conductor throughout North America.

The concert is free and open to the public.
