The Lee University Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Ismael Sandoval, will perform on Monday, March 20, at 7:30 p.m. in Pangle Hall.  

“We hope that everyone can join us on Monday night as the Lee Symphony Orchestra performs a wonderful program of music featuring some of our most talented musicians from the 2023 Concerto and Aria Competition,” said Sandoval. “The amount of talent that these musicians have is truly something to come see and hear for yourself!”  

“How Great Thou Art” arranged by Paul Edwards, “Variations on a Shaker Melody” by Aaron Copland, and “Blue Danube Waltz” composed by Johann Strauss II are some of the many pieces the ensemble will perform.  

The Symphony Orchestra is an ensemble of select instrumentalists who perform operatic, choral, and other major symphonic works.  

Sandoval, a Mexican-American conductor who has an undying passion for bringing people together in the beauty and power of music, currently serves as an artist-in-residence at Lee. He also serves as the assistant conductor of the Chattanooga Symphony & Opera (CSO), the music director of the CSO Youth Orchestras, music director at First Christian Church of Chattanooga, and director of the Lee Orchestra.   

He received his Master of Music in orchestral conducting from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, under the tutelage of Bruce Hangen, and his bachelor’s degrees in music education and composition from the University of Florida.  

The concert is free, non-ticketed, and open to the public. Livestream viewing will also be available at leeu.live.
