Lee University’s summer art camps, Art Explorers and Art Insights, are scheduled to start on June 15 for rising second graders to rising twelfth graders. Online options will also be offered for certain sessions.

“Lee’s summer art camps offer students a chance to explore a variety of art-making techniques and exciting art projects with expert faculty guidance,” said Mary Mathias-Dickerson, associate professor of art at Lee. “All experience levels are welcome.”

Specially selected Lee University art students will be in the classrooms to offer guidance and assistance along with the instructors. Campers will enjoy learning and practicing art skills all week and will show their work in an art display on the last day of camp.

The Art Explorers camp is taught by elementary art teacher Mary Ann Poplin for rising second graders to rising fifth graders. The camp will be held June 15–19 and June 22–26, and students have the choice to participate in either the 9 a.m.–noon camp or the 1–4 p.m. camp.

Art Explorers online option will take place during the morning session of the June 22–26 camp.

Art Insights is taught by Lee University art faculty member Bradley Wilson and welcomes rising sixth graders to rising twelfth graders. The camp takes place June 15–19, also offering two sessions, one from 9 a.m.–noon and one from 1–4 p.m.

Art Insights online option will take place during the June 15–19 afternoon session.

Lee University art camps will meet in Mayfield Annex at 1301 Magnolia Ave. NE. The fee is $95 per student with a discount available for those registering multiple students.

According to Mathias-Dickerson, Lee’s large studios allow students to spread out from each other, while still getting great art instruction from the faculty. A full list of safety procedures, which will be in place during the camps, will be sent out to all participants.
