Lee University’s Students for Life club recently held a fundraiser to raise money for New Hope Pregnancy Center in Cleveland, Tennessee.

The club sold Choo Choo Kettle Corn for 5 dollars per bag around campus and to friends and family throughout February and March. Proceeds from the sale went to New Hope for the purchase of a new computer, which will be used by new and expecting mothers to watch online parenting videos.

“I am so very proud of our club members,” said Jeannie Duff, a lecturer in Lee’s School of Nursing and faculty sponsor of the club. “These students are dedicated to helping these mothers have the resources they need to be able to choose life for their pre-born child, and they worked hard to earn the money for the New Hope computer.”

New Hope Pregnancy Center is dedicated to offering help, hope, and accurate information to new and expectant mothers, especially those facing unplanned pregnancies. They offer a variety of resources, including free ultrasounds and pregnancy tests, essential care items, and counseling and coaching provided by trained client advocates, all in a confidential, non-judgmental environment.

“My experience in Students for Life has been one of the most rewarding endeavors during my time at Lee,” said Sierra Stephens, a junior nursing major and club president. “From volunteering at New Hope to seeing the club grow this past semester, I am so thankful for the opportunities offered to me through Students for Life. I appreciate the relationships we have been able to build with the phenomenal staff at New Hope, and hope that our gift makes the fullest of impact for the staff, clients, and community.”

Students for Life, a chapter of the national Students for Life organization, is a service club dedicated to promoting life in all stages. They frequently partner with New Hope, volunteering to serve communities of the pre-born and women and families in crisis.

Choo Choo Kettle Corn is located in Chattanooga and serves fresh-popped popcorn to the surrounding areas. Larry Brown, owner, donated an extra 200 bags of kettle corn to Students for Life for their fundraiser.
