SOM to Host Composers’ Forum Concert
The Lee University Composers’ Forum will host their inaugural concert on Thursday, March 17 at 8 p.m. in Squires Recital Hall.
The Composers’ Forum is a student organization that fosters camaraderie and creativity among student composers and songwriters. The concert will feature new compositions by Lee students.
The concert is a way to showcase and encourage original music at Lee,” said Ian Tan, president of the Composers’ Forum. “I want it to become a regular avenue for the performance of new works, so that students can have a place and a time for things that they write.”
The program will include music by Logan Fox, Rosa Jia, McKenzie Stephens, Nora Swindle, Josiah Sytsma, Ian Tan, and Seth Tate. There will be a string quartet, string trio, saxophone, and other chamber music combinations.
“It’s thrilling to see how many students have shown great talent for composing,” said Dr. John Wykoff, assistant professor of music theory and composition at Lee. “I hope this will be the first of many opportunities for them to share their work.”
This is a free, non-ticketed event that is open to the public.
