Sodexo Food Service is partnering with The Caring Place once again for a Serve-A-Thon in effort to fight hunger in Bradley County. Donations made at Sodexo registers across the Lee University campus will be used to purchase canned food for The Caring Place to distribute.

Sodexo locations on Lee’s campus include Chick-fil-A (Paul Conn Student Union), Deacon Jones Dining Hall, Dunkin’ Donuts (Science & Math Complex), Einstein Bros. Bagels (Humanities Center), Jazzman’s Café & Bakery (PCSU), Simply to Go (School of Religion), Snacks N’Stacks (Squires Library), and Subway (PCSU). Donations of any amount will be accepted through Monday, April 29.

“A can of food can be purchased for a family in need for every 50 cents donated,” said Chelsea Long, resource developer for The Caring Place, Cleveland’s largest poverty-focused non-profit.

The Lee community raised $1,780 during last year’s Serve-A-Thon and hopes to exceed that amount this year.

“Some people even fasted part of their meal and donated the money saved to the Caring Place,” said Kelvin Tarukwahsa, general manager for Lee’s dining services.

The Caring Place is an ecumenical Christian, non-profit organization. Its mission is to model the love of Christ by addressing basic spiritual, physical and social needs of the disadvantaged in Bradley County, Tennessee regardless of race, ethnicity, age, gender, or disability.
