Simpson Makes The Voice Top 10

Alumni, News

Lee University is no stranger to having its students and alumni compete on vocal competition TV shows. In 2014, Clark Beckham was runner-up on the 14th season of ABC’s American Idol. In 2015, Jordan Smith won season 9 of The Voice. Brooke Simpson continues that legacy.

She recently made it into the Top 10 of this season of NBC’s The Voice.

Simpson immediately gained the judges attention during her blind audition when she sang Demi Lovato’s “Stone Cold.” All four judges turned their chairs and after a heated battle, Simpson decided to choose Miley Cyrus as her judge.

In the following weeks, Simpson continued to dominate on The Voice, making it through Knockouts, Battle Round, and through the first two weeks of live elimination.

Simpson had previously auditioned during her time at Lee, but did not receive a callback. She decided to re-audition due to the encouragement of her husband, also a Lee alum.

During her time at Lee, Simpson was involved in Campus Choir, Delta Zeta Tau, and Pi Kappa Pi.

Simpson lives in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where she and her husband, Ray, currently serve as worship pastors at Potential Church.

Lee University’s Student Leadership Council and Student Development Office will host viewing parties each week in the Paul Conn Student Union, as long as Simpson remains on the show.
