Shenanigans to Perform Next Weekend

Lee University’s improvisational comedy troupe, Shenanigans, will present three Valentine’s Day-themed shows Feb. 20–21. The team will perform on Friday, Feb. 20, at 9 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 21, at 8 and 10 p.m. in the Rose Lecture Hall, located in the Helen DeVos College of Education.
Founded in 2007 as Lee’s first improv team, Shenanigans is known for its spontaneous, unscripted performances that rely on creativity, teamwork, and audience participation. Each show features a series of improv games that challenge performers to think on their feet, whether that’s incorporating surprise phrases, taking on audience suggestions, or transforming a scene entirely.
“Every show is a completely new experience,” said Maggie Russell, Shenanigans team captain. “Our goal is to create a space where both the performers and audience can share in the fun and unpredictability of improv. You never know what’s going to happen, and that’s what makes it so special.”
Over the years, Shenanigans’ performances have drawn hundreds of audience members from both the Lee and Cleveland communities. Along with Russell, this semester’s team includes Isabella Armstrong, Joel Brooks, Luke Dobert, Brennan Flannagan, Anna Lawry, Joshua MacKinnon, Kylie McMurray, and Matthew Smith.
Each family-friendly show will last about 90 minutes. Tickets are $1 and will be available for purchase at the door. Doors open 30 minutes before each show.
