See How They Run to Close Theatre Season

News

Lee University Theatre will present the final installment of its spring theatre season with Phillip King’s comedy, See How They Run. The play will be directed by Dan Buck, assistant professor of theatre at Lee. Performance dates are April 13-14 and 20-22 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 15 at 2:30 p.m. in the Dixon Center Auditorium.

See How They Run is a wild British comedy from the 1940s, so fast and frenzied that the audience will be as out of breath from laughing as the actors are from the non-stop action. Galloping in and out of the four doors of an English vicarage are an American actor and actress, a cockney maid who has seen too many American movies, four men in clergymen suits (who are not all clergy), and a sedate Bishop aghast at all these goings on and the trumped up stories they tell him.

“This play is particularly challenging because we must so meticulously rehearse every entrance and exit,” Buck said. “Every prop must be placed precisely and every line delivered perfectly or the whole thing could come apart.”

Performances will feature students Garrett Boyd, Carly Weaver, Charise Jordan, Christiana Alexandersen, Zachary Arms, Nathan Tullos, Chase Hall, Jonathan Swindle, Michael Bachman, and Alexis Kaisharis.

The play is recommended for ages eight and up. Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $7 for seniors and students. Tickets will go on sale April 5 at the Dixon Center box office, open Monday through Friday from 3-6 p.m.
