School of Music to Present “A Classic Christmas”
The holidays are rapidly approaching and Lee University’s annual
“A Classic Christmas” is just around the corner. This year’s
festive celebration will be held on Sunday, Dec. 2 at 3:00 p.m. in
the Conn Center.
The first half of this year’s program will feature Gerald
Finzi’s “In Terra Pax,” a Christmas cantata that
celebrates the birth of Christ. This work will be performed by the
Lee University Choral Union and Symphony Orchestra under the
direction of Dr. Cameron F. LaBarr. The orchestra will be prepared
by Maestro Robert Bernhardt. Soloists in this work are Loralee
Songer and Tony Deaton.
The second half of the program will include various
arrangements of familiar Christmas carols and other Christmas
works. Among those are: “I Saw Three Ships,” “Hark the Herald
Angels Sing,” “O Holy Night” and “In the Bleak
Midwinter.” The Ladies of Lee will perform under the
direction of Dr. Loralee Songer, and Dr. Bill Green will conduct
the Lee Chorale.
The program will conclude with “O Holy Night” for
chorus, orchestra, and soloist.
Admission to “A Classic Christmas” is free of charge, but
tickets are required due to limited seating. Tickets can be
obtained at the Dixon Center box office from 3 to 6 p.m. beginning
Nov. 16. Any remaining tickets will be available in the Conn Center
