Schmitt to Present Faculty Recital

Lee University’s Clint Schmitt, saxophone, will present a recital on Wednesday, Oct. 18, at 7:30 p.m. in the Squires Recital Hall, located in Lee’s Humanities building. 

The program will center around four pieces for saxophone duo, three of which are accompanied by piano. The recital will also feature guest artists Tim Hinck, piano, and Alex Singleton, saxophone.

Schmitt holds faculty positions at Lee University and Southern Adventist University where he teaches applied saxophone and woodwind methods classes. He also actively performs in the area in classical, jazz, and commercial settings, and has conducted the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera’s Big Band Fever concerts on multiple occasions. Performances outside the Chattanooga area include the Alabama Symphony, guest solo performances at the Southeastern Band Conference, the Georgia Music Educator’s Conference, and the Anniston Museum Recital Series, as well as several appearances at various southeastern universities and colleges.

Tim Hinck

Hinck is a composer and pianist with several of his musical compositions and performances having been presented across the country and abroad in Spain and the Netherlands. He scored the music for the Emmy award-winning documentary “From the Streets to the Stage,” and many of his compositions have recently been performed by the Chattanooga Symphony, the Ann Arbor Symphony, and at the Juilliard School. He also composed an opera titled “Eve Apart,” which premiered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 2015. 

Singleton is a saxophone instructor at Chattanooga State Community College and Covenant College and also operates a private saxophone studio in east Tennessee and northern Georgia, where he teaches players of all ages, skill levels, and in a range of different styles. He is both a classical performer and a member of the Black Jacket Symphony, a band dedicated to recreating the music of famous rock albums. 

The recital is free, non-ticketed, and open to the public.
