Dr. Jason Robinson

Dr. Jason Robinson has been awarded the 2026 Rahamut Award. The award recognizes outstanding involvement outside the classroom and an overall heart for students.

The award is named in memory of Dr. Janet Rahamut, a veteran English professor whose tragic death in 2000 shocked the campus and left a tremendous void in the collective heart of the Lee community. The award was created to honor Rahamut’s dedication to her students, both in and out of the classroom.

“I cannot think of anyone more deserving than Dr. Robinson for this award,” said Dr. Bill Estes, dean of the Helen DeVos College of Education. “Not a day goes by that I don’t see him with students outside the classroom, across campus and across town. He and his wife, Faith, continually serve students well beyond the classroom.”

Robinson joined Lee’s Department of Early Childhood, Elementary, and Special Education in 2013, where he currently serves as professor of education. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Robinson has served as faculty athletics representative for the university, director of Summer Honors, Gateway instructor, and Lee Baseball faculty mentor. In 2018, Robinson received Lee’s Excellence in Advising Award, and in 2025, he received the CWC Servant Leadership Award.

“I am deeply honored to receive the Rahamut Award,” said Robinson. “Dr. Rahamut was one of my professors during my sophomore year, and her care, presence, and investment in students have stayed with me ever since. My wife, Faith, and I both had her as a professor, so this recognition holds deep personal meaning for us. It is a privilege to serve at Lee University, invest in students beyond the classroom, and play even a small part in what God is doing in their lives. At the end of the day, the greatest reward is seeing students become who they were created to be.”

Robinson was honored with the award during a chapel service in April.
