News

Lee University continues its 20th season of the Presidential Concert Series by hosting acclaimed trumpeter, Allen Vizzutti, for his second appearance on Monday, Nov. 7 at 7:30 p.m. in the Dixon Center.

Vizzutti has performed on over 100 motion picture sound tracks and countless TV shows, in addition to commercials and recordings with artists from many music genres. His continued commitment to the inherent value of music and music education allow him an extensive schedule of guest appearances at universities all over the world.

As an Artist in Residence, Vizzutti has taught at the Eastman School of Music, the Banff Center for the Performing Arts, Kansas State University, The Ohio State University, West Texas State University, the Skidmore Jazz Institute, and the Trompeten Akademie of Bremen Germany. His extensive treatise, “The Allen Vizzutti Trumpet Method” and his “New Concepts for Trumpet” have become standard works for the trumpet study worldwide.

Vizzutti’s latest, soon-to-be-released album Ritzville features collaboration with famed American jazz pianist, Chick Corea, who praised Vizzutti’s talent: “Finely tuned wind, easy control, polyharmonic wit, orchestral penmanship, punctuated spiritual warmth…rarely do so many qualities find themselves in one musician.”

The Allen Vizzutti Signature Artist Model trumpet by Yamaha, dubbed a “magic wand” by Vizzutti, was designed by him and renowned instrument designer Bob Malone, and hailed by Chris Walker of Jazztimes.com as “another great option for the professional or serious student/amateur trumpet player.”

From his home in Seattle, Wash., Vizzutti’s career continues to carry an impressive schedule of recitals, concerts, recording, and composing. Vizzutti attended the Eastman School of Music on full scholarship where he earned his bachelor and masters of music degrees. He remains the only wind player to receive the Artist’s Diploma in Eastman’s 85-year history.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for seniors and students and will be available at the Lee University box office in the Dixon Center, or by phone at (423) 614-8343, one week prior to the concert between 3-6 p.m.
