Performing Arts Series to Welcome Roman Rabinovich

Events, Music, News

The Lee University School of Music will welcome pianist Roman Rabinovich to continue the 2021-2022 Performing Arts Series (PAS). The performance will take place Monday, Jan. 24, at 7:30 p.m. in Pangle Hall on Lee’s campus.

The concert will feature selections from Jean-Philippe Rameau’s “Suite in G Minor,” three of Franz Schubert’s impromptus, George Walker’s “Sonata No. 5,” and Frédéric Chopin’s “Twelve Etudes, Opus 10.”

Rabinovich has been described as “an artist of the highest caliber; a pianist with complete technical command, a prodigious memory, and a highly individual personality at the piano” by the Palm Beach Arts Paper and “a joy to listen to” by the BBC Music Magazine. He has performed in venues across Europe and the United States and participated in festivals including Marlboro, Lucerne, Davos, Prague Spring, Klavier-Festival Ruhr, and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and is a frequent guest at Chamber Fest Cleveland.

Rabinovich is passionate about Franz Joseph Haydn and his piano music and has earned critical praise for his explorations of the composer. At the 2018 Bath Festival, he presented 42-sonatas in a 10-recital series. Prior to that, as artist in residence at the 2016 Lammermuir Festival in Scotland, he performed 25 Haydn sonatas in five days, and over two seasons, he performed all of Haydn’s sonatas in Tel Aviv.

As well as a performer of concertos, solo recitals, and chamber music, Rabinovich is a composer and visual artist. He graduated from the Curtis Institute of Music and earned his Master of Music at the Juilliard School.

The performance is free and open to the public, but tickets are required and can be reserved at https://leeu-music.eventbrite.com or at the Dixon Center’s Box Office by calling (423) 614-8343.

For those unable to attend in person, livestream viewing will be available at livestream.com/leeu.
