The Lee University Percussion Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Andy Harnsberger, will perform with guest artist Dr. Gene Fambrough on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Pangle Hall (Church Street Annex).

The program will feature “Sankofa” by N. Scott Robinson, “Quick Blood” by Adam Silverman, “Not Far from Here” by Blake Tyson, “Revolver” and “Finding Hope” by Harnsberger, and “Mudra” by Bob Becker.

Fambrough currently serves as assistant director of bands and assistant professor of percussion at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) where he has been on faculty since 2001. He has performed with the Alabama Symphony, the North Carolina Symphony, Panama Steel, the Bizarre Arte Ensemble, and the Spirit of Atlanta drum and bugle corps.

Prior to his appointment at UAB, Fambrough spent three years in the public education system as both assistant band director and band director at Oak Grove High School in Bessemer, Ala. He is a member of the Percussive Arts Society, Music Educators National Conference, Kappa Kappa Psi, and Pi Kappa Lambda.

Harnsberger currently serves as an assistant professor of music and percussion coordinator at Lee University and is active throughout the year as a freelance percussionist and recitalist. He is a performing artist and clinician for Pearl Drums and Adams Musical Instruments, Innovative Percussion, Inc., Evans Drum Heads, Sabian Cymbals, Ltd., and Grover Pro Percussion.

The concert is free and open to the public.
