Opera Theatre To Present Musical Revue Sunday
The Lee University Opera Theatre, directed by James Frost, will present its Musical Revue, “The Show Must Go On” on Sunday, Nov. 22, at 3 p.m. The performance will take place in the Dixon Center, along with being livestreamed.
“The Show Must Go On,” directed by Dr. ChoEun Lee, will feature Jason Robert Brown’s “Hear My Song” from “Songs for a New World,” along with selections from “Company,” “Guys and Dolls,” and “Godspell.”
“I am so proud of what the students have accomplished for this Musical Revue,” said Frost. “In my absence with COVID, the students have done everything to make this performance happen. They have worked really hard individually and in groups, and I know it will be a great Revue.”
The Musical Revue will be accompanied by Rachel Appleton, music staff member, on piano.
Frost is an associate professor of voice at Lee. He has performed in Germany as well as at various opera companies in the United States such as the Opera Theatre of St. Louis, the Boston Lyric Opera, the Kennedy Center’s Washington Opera Company, and the Central City Opera House Association in Colorado.
Lee is an assistant professor of collaborative piano and vocal coaching at the university. In addition to working extensively in recitals and masterclasses with renowned musicians, she has given numerous performances in Korea, the United States, Germany, Austria, Italy, Australia, and New Zealand, and in major venues such as Carnegie Hall, Tanglewood Music Center, and Music Festival of Lucca.
Lee’s Opera Theatre began in the spring of 1998 as a workshop and has grown into a production organization performing a Musical Revue in the fall semester, a fully-staged opera from both standard and less traditional repertoire in February, and Opera Scenes during the spring semester.
In the interest of everyone’s health and safety, masks and temperature screenings will be required at the live event.
The event is free, but due to COVID-19 capacity regulations, seating is limited and tickets are required. Tickets can be found obtained on Showclix.com.
The performance will also be available for livestream viewing.
