Modern Art Quilt Exhibit

News

Lee University is currently displaying the textile art work of Mary Ramsey Keasler. The exhibit is located in Squires Recital Hall in Lee’s Humanities Center and will be open to the public through Dec. 15.

Keasler, self-taught in the craft and techniques of quilting, has felt a connection with the craft from a young age. “The need to create art with textiles has been an integral part of my inner self for as long as I can remember,” she said.

A resident of Cleveland, Tenn., Keasler has been featured in Quilts magazine and on the cover of American Quilter’s Society. She received numerous awards from quilt competitions and was recognized internationally for her works, “Thistles” and “Orange Hibiscus.” Her quilts continue to delight audiences, winning multiple viewers’ choice awards.

Many of Keasler’s quilt creations are also on display at the Museum Center at 5ive Points in Cleveland and are available for sale.

Keasler will offer a workshop on campus for the members of the Lee sewing club, “Sew it Seams.” The sewing club meets Monday nights at 8 p.m. in Mayfield Annex, room 124B.
