Manhattan Chamber Players to Continue Presidential Concert Series

manhattanOn Thursday, March 16, Lee University will continue its Presidential Concert Series with the New York-based Manhattan Chamber Players Clarinet Quintet. The event will take place at 7:30 p.m. in Pangle Hall.

“Manhattan Chamber Players offer their audience the best of all possible worlds: top musicianship, diverse repertoire, and a flexible lineup that allows for just about any combination of instruments,” Red Bank Chamber Music Society.

The performance will include works by W.A. Mozart and Johannes Brahms and showcase the talents of Mark Dover, clarinet; Luke Fleming, viola; Grace Park, violin; Brendan Speltz, violin; and Brook Speltz, cello.

Formed in 2015 by Artistic Director Fleming, the group comprises an impressive roster of musicians who all come from the tradition of great music making at the Marlboro Music Festival, Steans Institute at Ravinia, Music@Menlo, Yellow Barn Chamber Music Festival and Perlman Music Program. The musicians are former students of the Curtis Institute, Juilliard School, Colburn School, and the New England Conservatory.  

The Manhattan Chamber Players has been featured multiple times on NPR’s Performance Today and serves as the Ensemble-in-Residence at both the Festival de Febrero in Mexico and the Crescent City Chamber Music Festival in New Orleans. In addition to its numerous concerts across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, the ensemble regularly tours in Asia and the Middle East and has led chamber music residency programs at institutions throughout the U.S. and abroad.

Tickets for the concert are $15 for adults, $5 for students and seniors, and are available for purchase on eventbrite.com or at the Lee University Box Office in the Dixon Center beginning Monday, March 13.
