LeeU Theatre to Present “Where Have All the Lightning Bugs Gone?”

News, Theatre

Lee Theatre will open the season with “Where Have All the Lightning Bugs Gone?” by Louis E. Catron on Sept. 23 and 24 at 7:30 p.m. in the Buzz Oates Blackbox Theatre.

“This show has been the whirlwind of my dreams,” said Fai Lloyd, student director and senior theatre major. “I have always wanted to direct, and with this show, the amazing support of the theatre department, faculty, production team, and my actors this experience has been all that I hoped for and more.”

According to Lloyd, “Where Have All the Lightning Bugs Gone?” is a sweet and heartwarming story of fate, friendship, and hope. When a boy and a girl meet as strangers in a park, they experience ups and down navigating their friendship and “find themselves” along the way.

“This show lives and breathes by the incredible work that the actors have put into it,” said Lloyd. “It has continuously grown with us as we work, and I am so excited for everyone to see the incredible life that this show brings.”

Online ticket sales are available now on Eventbrite or at the Lee Theatre Box Office, located in the Communication Arts Building. The box office will open 3-6 p.m. the week of the show and one hour prior to the performance.

“Fai has proven to be a talented and creative theatre artist while at Lee,” said Dr. Christine Williams, theatre professor and chair of the Communications Department. “We are thrilled for Fai to have the opportunity to bring this show to our stage and use the skills gained while in our program to share the play with our audience.”
