The Lee Trio

The Lee Trio will present its fall concert, “Romantic Banquet,” on Monday, Nov. 7, at 7:30 p.m. The performance will take place in Squires Recital Hall, located in Lee University’s Humanities building.

Formed in September 2017, the dynamic Lee Trio comprises faculty members from the Lee University School of Music, including Xiaoqing Yu, violin; Theodore Kartal, cello; and Muen Wei, piano. The ensemble advocates cross-cultural unity through music, and its members serve as an artistic ambassador for music education between the United States and Asia.

The performance will include “The Brahms Piano Trio No. 1 in B Major,” one of the most challenging and well-known piano trios in the world. Lee Trio will perform the second edition of this piece made by the composer in 1889, which, according to Yu, “shows splendid virtuosity and impressive finesse from all instruments.”

The Lee Trio will also present a set of lighthearted pieces arranged by Fritz Kreisler, including “Caprice Viennois” and some old Irish tunes. “For chamber music lovers, this truly is a ‘romantic banquet,’” said Yu.

The Lee Trio has appeared in concerts and masterclasses across North America and Asia, and its performances have won popularity with large audiences and educational institutions. When not touring internationally, the trio regularly performs on campuses and in surrounding communities in the U. S.

This event is free, non-ticketed, and open to the public. It will also be available via livestream at leeu.live.
