Approximately 275 high school students, representing 19 schools, will visit Lee University’s campus Friday, Feb. 10, and Saturday, Feb. 11, to participate in the annual Honor Choir. The event will conclude with a concert, “The Road Home,” on Feb. 11 at 4 p.m. in the Conn Center. 
 
Each member was recommended by their high school choral directors to represent their schools at the event. There will be a Tenor/Bass Choir, conducted by Lee’s Assistant Professor of Choral Music Dr. Cameron Weatherford, and a Treble Choir, conducted by Dr. Jabarie Glass, associate director of choral studies at the University of South Carolina. 
 
The Lee University Chorale, directed by School of Music Dean Dr. William Green, and Lee Singers, directed by Dr. Brad Moffett, vice president of university relations, will perform with the Honor Choir. Also performing with the Honor Choir will be collaborative pianist Dr. ChoEun Lee, assistant professor of collaborative piano and vocal coaching. 
 
“The Road Home” will feature selections such as Narverud’s “Alleluia,” Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads,” and Keen’s “Homeward Bound.” The entire group will merge at the end of the concert to form a mixed choir. 
 
Weatherford joined Lee’s School of Music faculty in 2021 and conducts the Ladies of Lee and Lee’s Choral Union, along with teaching choral music curriculum. He has received numerous awards in conducting and education and has been an adjudicator and presenter in multiple states and conferences. Weatherford earned a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) from the University of Kentucky, a Master of Music from the University of Southern Mississippi, and a Bachelor of Music from Louisiana College. 
 
At the University of South Carolina, Glass conducts two choral ensembles, University Chorus and Men’s Chorus, and teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in conducting and music education. His varied conducting experiences include working with university, secondary, and community youth, along with festival and church ensembles. Glass earned a DMA from the University of Michigan, a Master of Music Education from Florida State University, and a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Mississippi. 
 
The Saturday concert is free, non-ticketed, and open to the public. It will also be available for livestream viewing at leeu.live/.
