Lee University will host “Fan the Flame Leadership Summit,” a digital leadership conference, on Friday, Nov. 13, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m.

“The Fan the Flame Leadership Summit will offer real-life, tactical advice from world-class professionals who are Lee University alumni and friends of Lee,” said Dr. Susan Ashcraft, director of alumni relations at Lee. “We want to give our alums and the community of Cleveland the opportunity to learn leadership techniques from those who are successful and living out the life of a leader in a wide variety of career fields.”

The leadership summit will begin with a keynote address from Dr. Paul Conn, chancellor of Lee University.

Conn served as president of Lee University for 34 years before transitioning to Lee chancellor this August, making him the longest-serving president of a college or university in Tennessee. He has won numerous awards during his tenure and has been elected to the governing boards of many national and regional higher education organizations. Conn earned his Doctor of Philosophy in psychology from Emory University and a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Lee.

The Fan the Flame Leadership Summit will feature multiple breakout sessions led by Lee faculty, staff, and alumni leaders who have experience in various arenas of leadership including business, non-profit, higher education, social services, healthcare, the arts, ministry, and government/civic participation.

Speakers include Bob Bernhardt, artist in residence at Lee; Dr. Bill Estes, dean of Lee’s Helen DeVos College of Education; Jennifer Fease, vice president and group counsel for litigation at Equifax Incorporated; Matt Fisher, associate professor of cinema at Lee and independent filmmaker; Shannon Gabriel, vice president of the Atlanta Braves; Tre Hargett, Tennessee Secretary of State; Charryse Johnson, professional counselor, consultant, and educator; Tammy Johnson, executive director of Habitat for Humanity of Cleveland; Travis Johnson, lead pastor of Pathway Church; Esmeralda Lee, chief operating officer and executive vice president of Century Park; Wade Lombard, co-founder and operator of Square Cow Movers; Kevin and Amy McGlamery, lead pastors of Life Church; Dr. Lane Morris, associate dean of the college of business at University of Tennessee; Dr. Heather Quagliana, licensed clinical child psychologist and Lee professor; Bob Rodgers, president and chief executive officer of Street Grace; and Claire Sanger, board certified plastic surgeon and chief plastic surgeon at Cone Health Medical Group.
“The goal of the summit is to provide attendees with transformative leadership development including new and well-designed resources, content, and training,” said Dr. Brad Moffett, Lee’s vice president for university relations.

The leadership summit will serve as the kickoff for the university’s virtual Homecoming that weekend.

This summit is the first of three summits. The next two will cover relationships and stewardship and take place in 2021.
