Lee Theatre’s “Twelve Angry Jurors” to Open Nov. 7
Lee University Theatre will present “Twelve Angry Jurors,” adapted for the stage by Sherman L. Sergel, on November 7-8 and 13-15 at 7:30 p.m. in the Buzz Oates Black Box Theater.
The play, directed by Anna Marie Brendel, assistant professor of theatre, follows the jurors as they seek to reach a verdict in the case of a 19-year-old man standing trial for the fatal stabbing of his father. What looks like an open-and-shut case becomes personal with each juror revealing his or her own character as the various testimonies are re-examined, the murder is re-enacted, and a new threat is revealed.
“We hope that patrons will be intrigued to see such a famous play on our season lineup,” said Brendel. “‘Twelve Angry Jurors’ tells the same story made famous by the 1957 blockbuster film written by Reginald Rose. The Lee University production will utilize the versatility of the Buzz Oates Black Box Theater to create a unique, one-of-a-kind theatrical experience for every audience member. We hope to see you for this unmissable show!”

The show’s cast includes Lee students Autumn Blanton, Addie Blair, Austin Chapman, Kate Collins, Luke Dobert, Sara-Allison Dukes, Anna Evans, Tanner Jennings, Heidi Land, Caleigh Langford, Nolan Mann, Carolina Riley, and Holly Shimmel.
The production crew includes Lee students Sydney Kruger, stage manager, and Heidi Land, assistant stage manager. The run crew includes Amanda Brown, Lesley Bryant, Chloe Gates, Marli Herron, Noah Macdonald, and Samantha Saez.
Online ticket sales are available on Eventbrite.com or through the Lee Theatre Box Office the week prior to the show and one hour before curtain time.
The box office and Buzz Oates Black Box Theater are located in Lee University’s Communication Arts Building.
“Twelve Angry Jurors” is produced by special arrangement with THE DRAMATIC PUBLISHING COMPANY of Woodstock, Illinois.
