Lee Theatre to Present Tragedy: A Tragedy

News

Lee Theatre will bring “Tragedy: A Tragedy” to the stage Feb. 20-22 and 24 at 7:30 p.m. and Feb. 23 at 2:30 p.m.

“Tragedy: A Tragedy,” written by Will Eno, is an absurdist comedy calling into question our obsession with “breaking news” and forces us to ponder the role of media in our lives. It is directed by Associate Professor of Theatre Dr. Christine Williams.

“This play is very different from our normal fare, and we are excited to work on the challenge of an absurdist piece that, while entertaining, will also provoke some discussion,” said Williams. “The play pokes fun at our obsession with 24-hour news, but in doing so, asks us to question how we understand what happens in our world.”

The cast includes Dumisa Moyo, Lucy Southwell, Alisha Ammons, Jordan Stone and Clint Page.

The play will be performed in the Edna Minor Conn (EMC) Theatre located inside the Vest Building.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for seniors/students. The box office will open Feb. 13, Monday through Friday 3-6 p.m. in the Dixon Center and one hour before shows at the EMC.
