Lee University Theatre will present Agatha Christie’s “The Mousetrap” Oct. 10-12 and 14 at 7:30 p.m. with matinee performances on Oct. 12-13 at 2:30 p.m. The performances will be held in the Edna Minor Conn Theatre located in the Vest Building.

“The Mousetrap” was written by English author Agatha Christie, one of the best known authors of crime novels, short stories, and plays. The play has been running continuously since 1952 in London’s West End Theatre District, making it the longest running play in history.

The story takes place outside of London at Monkswell Manor, an aged country home converted into a guest house by a newlywed couple, Molly and Giles Ralston. The first day of business for the Ralstons would be perfect if only there was not a blizzard, five guests with peculiar quirks, and a murderer on the loose.

“It has been a lot of fun bringing this classic play to life,” said Tenika Dye, director of the play. “The Mousetrap is a great example of Agatha Christie’s ability to craft a thought provoking story. With complex, interesting characters, the play pulls the audience in and keeps them guessing what will happen to the very end.”

Dye is an adjunct professor of theatre in Lee’s Communication Arts Department. She has worked in professional theatre in the areas of acting, directing, storytelling, script adaptation, devised plays, applied theatre, teaching, marketing, public relations, arts administration and stage management in New York, Virginia, Texas and Tennessee. Dye also serves as artistic director of The Salvation Army’s “ReCreate Café” in Chattanooga which provides creative opportunities for the homeless community and regional artists.

A native of Rhea County, Dye earned an MA in storytelling and her BA in theatre from East Tennessee State University.

The cast of “The Mousetrap” includes Lee students Garrett Boyd as Giles Ralston; Naomi Rivers as Mollie Ralston; Evan Pell as Christopher Wren; Kate Bosch as Mrs. Boyle; John Morris as Major Metcalf; Paige Smith as Ms. Casewell; Nathan Tullos as Mr. Paravicini; and Zach Arms as Sergeant Trotter.

Tickets for Lee Theatre productions are $10 for adults and $7 for seniors and students. Tickets will be sold beginning Oct. 3 from 3-6 p.m. Monday-Friday in the Dixon Center Box Office and one hour before the show in the Vest Building.
