Lee University hears many success stories from its students and
graduates. Senior vocal performance major Kelsey Frost now has a
success story of her own to add.

Frost has been offered a contract to sing the role of Ciboletta
in Johann Strauss’ operetta “Eine Nacht in Venedig” at the
Hildesheim Opera house in Hildesheim, Germany. Frost will begin
working at the opera house directly after graduation in December,
and the show premiers in Feb. 2013.

Frost will graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a
Vocal Emphasis as well as a Bachelor of Music Education with a
Vocal Emphasis. While at Lee, Frost has been involved in many
activities both within and beyond the music department.

Over the past four years Frost has been an active participant in
Lee’s opera theatre. She has performed roles in various operas,
including: “Patience” by Gilbert and Sullivan, “Suor Angelica” by
Puccini, “Dido and Aeneas” by Purcell, and “The Marriage of Figaro”
by Mozart. In addition to these roles, Frost has been a section
leader for Choral Union and was voted onto the honors recital for
the past two years.

“It has been a special treat for me to have Kelsey as my voice
student for the past four years,” said Tony Deaton, associate
professor of music. “She is a dedicated, hard worker with a
beautiful, vibrant voice. I am incredibly proud of Kelsey and glad
for her to have this rare opportunity.”

Beyond the music department Frost has been a part of Big Pal
Little Pal and the Unity Dance Troupe. She was also inducted into
the freshman honor society, Phi Eta Sigma. Frost will fulfill her
student teaching requirement in Thailand during the last half of
this semester.

Prior to her time at Lee, Frost lived in Hildesheim with her
parents, James and Dayne Frost.

“When I was living in Germany my parents worked at the opera
house in Hildesheim and I started singing in the children’s chorus
when I was 11,” said Frost. “We got to be part of the main stage
operas and I fell in love with opera and with the theatre.”

The Lee University family is proud to welcome Frost’s story into
its list of successes.
