He was a featured guest artist in the Texas State International Piano Festival and the Brevard Summer Music Festival. He has also performed with the Eastman Philharmonic Orchestra, the Korean Philharmonic Orchestra of New Zealand, and the University of Auckland Symphony Orchestra, among others.

Jung received his Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA), Master of Arts (MA), and Master of Music (MM) degree from Eastman School of Music, and an additional MM and Bachelor of Music (BM) degree from the University of Auckland.

As a student, Kartal won multiple competitions and prizes, such as the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion prize and first prize at the Istanbul Cello Competition. Since then he has gone on to perform with orchestras in Italy, Germany, France, and the U.S.

He received his MM in cello performance from Louisiana State University and an MM in cello performance and a BA from Mimar Sinan University in Istanbul.

Presently, Yu serves as the concertmaster of the Greenville Symphony and performs with the Glimmerglass Opera Orchestra, which is an annual, 10-week summer festival in New York.
