Lee University’s annual Lee Day will be this Friday and Saturday, April 5-6, two days filled with events and activities geared toward prospective students and their families.

The 30-hour spread of events will provide information, opportunities and entertainment.

Registration will open on Friday at noon followed by open classes until 3 p.m. and campus tours until 4 p.m. Academic displays, early class selection and residence hall tours will also be available during this time.

Friday afternoon visitors will have the chance to attend a Flames tennis match, a Lady Flames softball game and a Flames baseball game.

“Music in the Air” featuring several of Lee’s musical ensembles will perform in venues around campus from 3-4 p.m.

After the performances, faculty and students will provide information and advice at an event called “Major Discovery” to help students decide on their major.

Following the events, dinner will be provided in the Deacon Jones Dining Hall for all attendees.

New to the agenda this year will be Lee’s “Spotlight,” an event from 6-8 p.m. which will feature highlights of several musical ensembles, award-winning short films, alumni and athletes.

“The idea of ‘Spotlight’ is to showcase Lee and allow prospective students to hear the success stories of Lee,” said Vice President for Enrollment and “Spotlight” host Phil Cook.

The traditional block party with music, fun and games will begin after “Spotlight.” To conclude the day, Lee Theatre will present romantic comedy and Audrey Hepburn classic, “Sabrina Fair” at 8 p.m.

Saturday will offer more opportunities for campus tours, athletic events and entertainment with registration beginning at 8 a.m.

In addition, prospective students will get the chance to meet Lee coaches on Saturday, visit student club and organization displays and participate in a teen talent music and drama clinic, while parents can meet Lee President Paul Conn and have questions answered by the Financial Aid staff.

An alumni luncheon will take place at noon, as well as luncheons for transfer and high school students.

Flames baseball, Lady Flames softball, and men and women’s tennis will also play on Saturday.

“Life at Lee,” a light-hearted look at campus life, is scheduled to entertain attendees on Saturday afternoon.

The weekend will wrap up with a cookout at the Alumni Park from 4-5 p.m. and a worship rally featuring Conn, Voices of Lee and Lee’s chapel worship band, followed by eight scholarship award drawings.

The final event will be “The Gridiron,” Alpha Gamma Chi’s attempt to set the Guinness World Record for flag football.

Local high school students, parents and youth leaders are encouraged to attend and participate in Lee Day.
