Lee University Chamber Strings will present its fall concert, “Motion Picture Soundtracks,” on Monday, Nov. 15, at 7:30 p.m. The performance will take place in Pangle Hall and will also be livestreamed for virtual attendance.

The evening will feature music from Disney, “Star Wars,” “James Bond,” “La La Land,” “Coco,” “Jurassic World,” and other well-known and loved movies.

“The program is like a gift from heaven just before Thanksgiving, bringing you fond memories of movie soundtracks,” said Xiaoqing Yu, director of Chamber Strings. “It is sure to be a pleasant evening for movie lovers.”

The Lee University Handbell Choir, directed by Laud Vaught, will join the performance with “The Avengers,” “Amazing Grace,” and “My Heart Will Go On.”

Chamber Strings is a dynamic ensemble comprising the institution’s finest violinists, violists, cellists, and bassists, providing innovative programming for venues on and off campus.

Yu joined Lee in 2004 and currently serves as an associate professor of music, teaching violin and chamber music. He has performed with world-renowned performers such as Emmanuel Ax, Itzhak Perlman, Isaac Stern, and Maxim Vengerov. He previously served as principal second violinist of the American Chamber Orchestra, performing throughout Europe.

Yu served 24 years as concertmaster of the Greenville Symphony and 23 seasons with Glimmerglass Opera Orchestra. After resigning from both orchestras in 2017, he joined The Lee Trio, a faculty piano trio which performs extensively in Asia in the summers.

The concert is free, non-ticketed, and open to the public.

Livestream viewing will be available at https://leeu.live.
