Ladies of Lee to Perform

Ladies of Lee, Lee University’s women’s ensemble will take the stage on Thursday, March 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the Lee Chapel.
The Ladies will perform various arrangements of Indian and African music, spiritual pieces, and several selections by women composers, including Susan LaBarr, Missouri Composer Laureate and wife of Dr. Cameron F. LaBarr, assistant professor of music at Lee.
Since 1965, Ladies of Lee has traveled throughout the eastern United States with a vast repertoire displaying a diverse range of styles. Along with churches and schools, they have performed at Biltmore Estate and the United States Naval Academy Chapel in Annapolis. They have also had the opportunity to expand their ministry in Hawaii, Alaska, Europe, Israel and the Abaco Islands.
Ladies of Lee is under the direction of Assistant Professor of Music Dr. Loralee Songer. Known for her vocal talent and wide range of vocal styles, Songer teaches applied voice and conducting at Lee.
Songer has received first place at numerous regional and state NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing) competitions and recently performed at the Chinese New Year Concert at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
