Jazz Ensemble to Present Spring Concert

News

The Lee University Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Alan Wyatt, will present its spring concert on Saturday, March 16 at 7:30 p.m. in the Conn Center.

Included on the program will be music of Thad Jones, Sammy Nestico, Neal Hefti and Eliane Elias, among others.

A frequent award winner at national festivals, the ensemble includes rhythm section instruments, saxophones, trumpets, and trombones.

Guest artists John Riley, drum set, and Lalo Davila, Afro-Cuban percussion, will perform with the Jazz Ensemble. Riley and Davila will present clinics on Saturday as well.

Wyatt, an assistant professor of music at Lee, has shared the stage with several artists including Frank Sinatra, Jr., The Temptations, The Four Tops, Doc Severinsen, and Clay Aiken among others. Prior to his appointment at Lee, Wyatt was the co-leader, along with his late wife Paula Archer-Wyatt, of a jazz quartet that performed throughout the greater southeastern U.S.

The performance is free and open to the public.
