News

On Tuesday, Nov. 11, the Lee University Jazz Ensemble will present its fall concert at 7:30 p.m. in the Conn Center under the direction of Alan Wyatt.

The program will present the music of Duke Ellington, Joe Zawinul, and Donald Brown, among others.

Also featured on the program will be Lee Assistant Professor of Music Dr. Nathan Warner, who will perform several trumpet solos throughout the evening. The Lee University Small Jazz Ensemble, directed by Warner, will perform during the second half of the program.

The Jazz Ensemble consists of 22 students of various majors. The sections include 14 wind instrumentalists and eight rhythm instrumentalists.

Wyatt, an assistant professor of music at Lee, has shared the stage with several artists, including Frank Sinatra, Jr., The Temptations, The Four Tops, Doc Severinsen, and Clay Aiken, among others. Prior to his appointment at Lee, Wyatt was the co-leader, along with his late wife Paula Archer-Wyatt, of a jazz quartet that performed throughout the greater southeastern U.S.

The performance is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Lee’s School of Music at (423) 614-8240 or email [email protected].
