Jazz Ensemble to Perform on the Dixon Center Stage

The Lee University Jazz Ensemble will present a concert under the direction of Alan Wyatt in the Dixon Center on Tuesday, March 22 at 7:30 p.m.
The concert will feature works by Dave Hanson, Clifford Brown, Randy Brecker, and Donald Brown, among others.
The Lee University Jazz Ensemble performs traditional and recent literature for the traditional Big Band. The ensemble includes rhythm, saxophones, trumpets, and trombones. A frequent award winner at national festivals, it performs for campus, school, and civic events.
Recently, the ensemble participated in the Collegiate Jazz Festival hosted by the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. Based on its performance, the ensemble was ranked in the festival’s highest category, “Division I,” by each of the four adjudicators. Outstanding soloist citations were awarded to Lee students Aaron Dick and Sophie Lockhart who will be among the performers Tuesday night.
“This was a tremendous experience for our students,” said Wyatt. “Not only did they have the opportunity to hear some incredible college bands, they also were able to meet and hear world-class jazz professionals in clinic and performance settings.”
Wyatt, an assistant professor of music at Lee, has shared the stage with several artists, including Frank Sinatra, Jr., The Temptations, The Four Tops, Doc Severinsen, and Clay Aiken, among others. Wyatt is also an artist for the Andreas Eastman Winds Corporation.
Admission to the concert is free and open to the public.
