Hundreds Gather to Pack Shoeboxes for OCC
On Tuesday, Nov. 11, more than 800 Lee University students, staff and faculty gathered to pack shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child (OCC), a service opportunity provided through Samaritan’s Purse. The mission of OCC is to fill as many shoebox-sized boxes as possible with Christmas gifts to be distributed to children in need around the world. Over 1,800 boxes were filled at this packing event hosted by the First-Year Programs Office. The Office of Student Development and Student Leadership Council will continue to collect boxes until Nov. 21. Since beginning the project 1998, the campus has packed over 20,000 boxes.
