The Lee University Chorale will present its annual fall concert on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at 7:30 p.m. in Pangle Hall, under the direction of Dr. Cameron Weatherford. The performance will feature a program of diverse choral works and a special appearance by the Dalton High School Catamount Singers.

The evening’s program includes selections such as “Song of Triumph” by Dale Grotenhuis, “Psaume 98” by Peter-Anthony Togni, “Splendor” by Elaine Hagenberg, and the beloved hymn “Amazing Grace,” among other works. Chorale will be accompanied by pianist Amy Wu.

Graduate students Justus Dennis and Jillene Reynolds will also assist in conducting during the concert. Dennis, who serves as graduate conductor for Chorale and director of the Lee University Men’s Choir, is pursuing a master’s degree in choral conducting. Reynolds, a Columbus, Georgia native, is a first-year graduate student with a rich background in vocal performance and student conducting.

“This concert is not only a celebration of beautiful choral music but also a collaboration that highlights the talent and dedication of young musicians at both the university and high school level,” said Weatherford. “We’re thrilled to welcome the Catamount Singers to our stage and share this musical experience with the community.”

The Dalton High School Catamount Singers, directed by Lee alumnus Riley Hooper and accompanied by pianist Mary Beth Wickes, will join Chorale for part of the program. The Catamount Singers serve as the flagship vocal ensemble for Dalton Public Schools and have a longstanding tradition of excellence spanning over 50 years.

Hooper, who earned his bachelor’s degree in music education from Lee in 2022, also leads Dalton High’s musical theater productions.

In addition to directing Chorale, Weatherford conducts the Ladies of Lee and serves as assistant professor of choral music at Lee, where he teaches in both the undergraduate and graduate choral programs. With over a decade of experience, he has led award-winning ensembles at both the secondary and collegiate levels, conducted numerous honor choirs, and served as an adjudicator across the U.S. and internationally. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in choral conducting from the University of Kentucky.

Lee University Chorale is a premier vocal ensemble composed of auditioned singers, known for their expressive performances and wide-ranging repertoire. The group has appeared with the Chattanooga Symphony and performed internationally, most recently as featured guests at the 2022 Advent Festival in Vienna, Austria.

The concert is free, open to the public, and will also be available via livestream at leeu.live
