Give Day 2016, Another Great Success

Alumni, News

On Thursday, Oct. 27, Lee alumni joined together to support the university on Give Day 2016.

“Their support is crucial to Lee being able to provide opportunities to future and current students,” said Patti Cawood, director of Alumni Relations.

The Department of Alumni Relations began the day with a goal of 500 donors, and also invited alums to create challenges of their own. Alumni became involved throughout the day and multiple challenges were issued by different alum to their fellow graduates.

One new component for this year’s Give Day was that donors had direct control over where their money went. Each donor received one vote toward the department of his or her choice to receive scholarship money. At the end of the day, the Department of Business received the most votes and will receive a portion of the money raised toward a scholarship for their department.

Money raised from Give Day was directed given to the Alumni Fund which awards Young Alumni Professional Development Grants, Legacy Scholarships, and supports building funds.

Throughout the day, contributions poured in from around the country with a final total of nearly $50,000.

“The key is not for someone to do everything,” explained Cawood, “but for everyone to do something.”
