Free Tax Assistance to End Saturday

News

The free tax preparation offered by Lee University’s Department of Business and the Internal Revenue Service will end Saturday, April 12. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) will be available Friday and Saturday at the Walker Memorial Building in Room 101 on Lee’s campus.

IRS certified junior and senior accounting students will provide assistance from 2:30-5:30 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m.-12 p.m. on Saturday. They will not be filing midnight returns.

In its eighth year, the VITA program at Lee is a tax return preparation service for any taxpayer whose maximum gross annual income does not exceed $50,000.

“This free tax preparation service is to the advantage of many of our neighbors,” said Greg Della Franco, assistant professor of accounting at Lee University and coordinator of the VITA program on campus.
