Lee University students, faculty, and staff will come together for a time of spiritual reflection during this semester’s Convocation. Services will begin on Sunday, Sept. 20, and conclude on Thursday, Sept. 24.

“This may be one of the most significant Convocations in Lee’s history as we turn our focus spiritually, mentally, and emotionally towards God for the building of ‘one body,’” said Lee University Campus Pastor Rob Fultz.

Opening Convocation is Lee University President Dr. Mark Walker. While Walker is in his inaugural semester as Lee president, he is not new to Lee. Prior to this appointment, Walker served as the vice president for ministerial development and chair of the Department of Christian Ministries at Lee. He was also on Lee’s Board of Directors for seven years. Prior to Lee, he served as the senior pastor of Mount Paran North Church of God for 25 years and has been a frequent speaker at Lee’s Convocation.

Monday’s service will feature Jeremy Isaacs, lead pastor of Generations Church in Canton, Georgia. Prior to this position, Isaacs was campus pastor of Canton Church for five years at Mount Paran North before the church became autonomous as Generations Church. Isaacs co-authored a book with his brother, Jason Isaacs, titled “Toxic Soul: A Pastor’s Guide to Leading Without Losing Heart.” Jeremy is a 2011 Lee alum of Christian studies and youth ministry, and he also received his Master of Arts in theological studies from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary.

Laurel Bunker will speak at the Tuesday morning and evening services. Bunker is the associate vice president of Christian formation and church relations at Bethel University, in addition to serving as its campus pastor. When she’s not preaching at Bethel, Bunker travels throughout the country teaching and training at colleges, churches, and parachurch organizations in the areas of leadership, spiritual development, and biblical issues in 21st-century Christianity.

Fultz will speak Wednesday night. He is a 2001 Lee alumnus, and prior to his appointment at Lee, he served as the lead campus pastor for Saddleback Church in Corona, California, and was the executive pastor at the Irvine Saddleback campus before that.

Convocation will conclude on Thursday morning with the artists of “Re.Created,” Carlos Rising and Caroline Ward, who are both Lee School of Music alumni. Rising graduated with a degree in music business from Lee. He serves as Re.Created’s lead singer, guitar player, song writer, and head music arranger and has been featured on the Billboard Top 50 charts. He currently resides with his wife Anouk in Cleveland, Tennessee, and works as a full-time musician and songwriter.

Ward received a Bachelor of Arts in music and worship from Lee. She has since been a featured artist on multiple recording projects and the Billboard Top 50 charts. Ward resides in Phoenix, Arizona, with her husband Joshua. Though they also pursue individual projects, together Rising and Ward make up Re.Created. They work alongside their marital partners as business directors and collaborate with the nonprofit, Challenge Ministries Global, an orphanage and ministry center in the Kingdom of Eswatini, Africa.

Weeknight services begin at 7:30 p.m. and morning services at 10:40 a.m. Services are hosted in multiple locations with live streaming, due to health and safety concerns surrounding COVID-19. The university invites all guests to attend via live stream.
